Alistair Little was born in Chertsey, Surrey in 1974. A self-taught narrative painter, Alistair worked for three years in the film and television industries before turning to two dimensional art to train and work as a freelance commercial illustrator.
Early commissions included an underground comic and graphic design work along with storyboard work for the advertising industry.
Since 2001, Alistair has been a narrative painter.
Alistair responds mostly to visual storytelling, and his love of cinema goes back to early childhood, thanks to his dad and grandpa. His exposure to their favourite films lead him back to Spaghetti Westerns and old detective movies, which have been an enormous influence. The colour palettes, the widescreen compositions of Sergio Leone films, and the hard shadows from the expressionist detective films have left a lasting impression.
Alistair has been represented by the Panter & Hall Gallery in London since 2004, and more recently the Ballater Gallery in Scotland.
